WBBPE Recruitment 2025 Assistant Teacher
The West Bengal Board of Primary Education invites applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to 13,421 vacant posts of Assistant Teachers in Government Aided/Government Sponsored Primary/Junior Basic Schools across the state.
This recruitment will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of "West Bengal Primary School Teachers Recruitment Rules, 2016" (amended up to date).
Note: This is a state-level recruitment with positions available across all districts of West Bengal. Candidates will have the opportunity to select their preferred district during the application process.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Candidates must possess one of the following qualification combinations:
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
- Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
- Graduation and Two Year Diploma in Elementary Education
Additional Requirements
- Must have passed Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by WBBPE
- Must be a citizen of India
- Must have studied and passed the specific language as first or second language at Higher Secondary level for the medium of instruction sought
Reservation Benefits: Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD, Exempted Categories, and Ex-Servicemen are eligible for relaxation of up to 5% in qualifying marks as per rules.
Age Limit
Minimum age: 18 years | Maximum age: 40 years as on January 1, 2025
Upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per Government norms.

Reservation
Reservation will be applicable in accordance with the extant reservation norms of the Government of West Bengal.
Important Notes
- Candidates must select their preference for District Primary School Council (DPSC)/Primary School Council (PSC) during application
- Posting will be subject to availability of appropriate medium-wise and category-wise vacancies
- For Santhali medium, proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Santhali (Ol-Chiki Script) is required
- The application portal opening date and submission schedule will be notified separately

Candidates must have studied and passed the specific language as first or second language at Higher Secondary level for the medium they are applying for.
Exception: For Santhali medium, candidates only need proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Santhali (Ol-Chiki Script). They don't need to have passed Santhali as a subject.
