The next round of Ph.D. admissions is open for eligible candidates who are PET qualified or exempted from PET as per References 1 to 3. Additionally, online applications are invited from eligible candidates who are exempted from PET for the next round of the Ph.D. program in University Departments and Recognized Research Centres, as per Reference No. 4, Point 3 (3.2) (c) (i)
Candidate shall be admitted to Ph.D. program by a process through: -
(a) All eligible candidates shall undergo an interview/viva-voce of 100 marks.
(b) Selection of candidates qualifying PET: shall be made as per the following weightage:
PET: Weightage of 70 %, and
Performance in Interview/viva- voce: Weightage of 30 %
(c) Selection of candidates exempted from PET [as mentioned in University Circular no. 195/2025 (3) (3.2) (c) (i)] shall be made solely on the basis of their performance in interview/viva-voce, which shall be evaluated out of 100 marks.

Eligibility for admission to Ph. D. Program:
Candidates who have completed:
a) A 1-year/2-semester master's degree program after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program with Research/Honors or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program after a 3-year bachelor’s degree program or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
OR
equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/DT-A/NT-B/NT-C/NT-D/SEBC* & OBC (non-creamy layer if applicable)/ Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program as per NEP 2020 should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/DT-A/NT-B/NT-C/NT-D/ SEBC* & OBC (non-creamy layer if applicable)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
b) Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. program with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for PET. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/DT-A/NT-B/NT-C/NT-D/ SEBC & OBC (non-creamy layer if applicable) /Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time.
SEBC Reservation is subject to the final outcome at Writ Petition No. 3468/2024 filed in the Hon’ble Mumbai High Court.
c) Candidates with M.D./M.S. qualification will be considered eligible to Ph.D. Program in the subject equivalent to medical science under the faculty of Science & Technology
d) Qualification of CA/CS/ICWA shall be treated as Post-Graduate qualifications in the faculty of Commerce & Management.

For Reservation Category - Rs. 800/-
Mode of payment:- Payment made through online only, i.e, using Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING UP ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
➢ Application form is available online on the University website: www.unipune.ac.in on following link
➢ Before filling the online application form please check the vacant positions for admission displayed on the University website.
➢ Candidates need not to choose their Research Centre at the time of filling up of application form. Link for choosing research centre will be notified in due course.
➢ Required documents: Candidate shall upload following documents along with Online Application form:
a) Scanned copy of Marks Statement of Master's Degree. (if not acquired, Marks sheet should be submitted at the time of personal interview).
b) Scanned copy of the Caste Certificate in case of Reserved Category Candidates (if applicable).
c) Scanned copy of the Non - Creamy Layer Certificate (Valid till March, 2026) in case of Reserved Category Candidates (if applicable).
d) Scanned copy of the Medical Certificate/UIDI Certificate in case of Specially/Differently Abled candidates (if applicable).
e) Scanned copy of certificate issued by Divisional Deputy Commissioner, Women & Child Development Department, Government of Maharashtra for orphan candidates (if applicable)
f) Certificate issued by the competent authority in respect of EWS Category (for Maharashtra state only)
Documents required for exemption candidate:
Photocopy of certificates in case of candidates exempted as per the University Notification clause-3 (c) (i).
The students who qualify for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/NET-LS/UGC-CSIR NET/SET/GATE (Valid Score)/ JRF/ SRF/ ICAR/ ICMR/DET/DST/CEED and similar National level tests based on an interview, are exempted from PET.
General Instructions:
➢ Admission to any program does not guarantee hostel facility or any kind of financial support in any form like scholarship, fellowship, Earn & Learn etc. The University has independent procedure for offering such benefits, if applicable.
➢ It is the responsibility of the applicant to fulfil the eligibility conditions and comply with the admission requirements. If at any stage it is noticed that a false claim has been made by the candidate or important material facts have been concealed and / or the candidate is not eligible, his candidature shall be liable for cancellation.
➢ Candidates are NOT required to submit printout of application or any documents to the University after online submission of application. However, these original documents are to be submitted at the time of personal interview at the chosen research centre.
➢ Incomplete applications/applications without uploading required documents/applications submitted after the due date will be rejected without assigning any reason and no correspondence will be entertained by the University in this regard.
> No request for change in any information submitted in the online form will be entertained by the University (Mobile, email, centre etc.).
> Changes in reservation due to policy decisions of the Government from time to time will applicable.
> If a candidate found not eligible at any stage will be disqualified and in such case fees paid will not be refunded.
> Candidates from reserved category (SC, ST, VJ A, NT B, NT C, NT D, OBC, SEBC, EWS) other than Maharashtra state shall be treated as Open.
> Admission is provisional subject to conditions on fulfilling eligibility criteria and R.R. Committee approval.
> Eligibility criteria – For more clarity regarding eligibility of a particular subject, students have to confirm it from the selected Research Centre.
> Students are advised to visit website frequently for details.
> Vacancy positions for Ph.D. are likely to be changed.
> Student admissions are dependent on availability of Research Centre and Research Guide.
> The documents provided by the students along with the PET examination application should be submitted by the students at the time of interview. If the said document is not submitted, the admission will be considered as cancelled.
> Admission will be confirmed after verification of original documents by the Research Centres concerned.
> The University will decide the number of eligible students to be called for an interview based on the number of Ph.D. seats available.
> After the examination admission process will take place only if Research Centres & Research Guide are available.
> In case of any grievance or disputes, the decision of the University shall be final and binding on all subject to Pune jurisdiction.
> Candidates who have already applied as per ref. 1 to 3 need not to apply again, otherwise eligible.
Online registration process will be treated as completed only after the required documents and application are uploaded on http://bcud.unipune.ac.in/phd_entrance/applicant/login.aspx on or before the last day as the application.
