Eagles defeat Chiefs 13-10 in Super Bowl rematch

In a gritty, defense-heavy rematch of last season’s Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles held off the Kansas City Chiefs 13–10 at Arrowhead Stadium. The win keeps the Eagles perfect at 2–0, while the Chiefs are now 0–2 for the first time in a decade.

Low-Scoring Affair Dominated by Defense

This wasn’t the kind of shootout we’ve come to expect from these two. Instead, it was a battle of field position, defensive stops, and clutch kicking.

Jake Elliott was the hero for Philadelphia, nailing a 58-yard field goal to tie the game at halftime and a 51-yarder in the third quarter that ended up being the difference.

Low-Scoring Affair Dominated by Defense

The Chiefs’ offense continued to look out of sync. Patrick Mahomes was actually the leading rusher in the game with 60 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown scramble, but he only threw for 60 yards total—one of the quietest passing games of his career.

The Eagles’ defense was all over him, and without a reliable deep threat and with Xavier Worthy sidelined, Kansas City never found a rhythm.

Barkley Breaks Through Early

Saquon Barkley got the Eagles on the board early with a 13-yard touchdown run, his first in an Eagles uniform after being held out of the end zone in the Super Bowl.

Jalen Hurts didn’t put up big numbers—just 62 passing yards—but he didn’t turn the ball over, which was huge in such a tight game.

Chiefs Face Early Season Crisis

An 0–2 start is unfamiliar territory for the Mahomes-Reid era. History hasn’t been kind to teams in this spot—since 1990, only about 12% of teams that started 0–2 made the playoffs. It’s still early, but the Chiefs have some real things to figure out.

This was the fifth meeting between these two in the last five seasons—the first time since the 1970 merger that non-conference opponents have played that often that quickly.

For now, the Eagles have the upper hand, with wins in the Super Bowl and now this regular-season grinder.
