WB NEET-UG 2025 Counselling: Revised Round 1 Schedule Released, Admission Process Resumes After Supreme Court Order.

WB NEET-UG 2025 Counselling

West Bengal’s MBBS and BDS admissions are back on track after a short suspension, following a decisive Supreme Court stay order that set aside previous conditions imposed by the Calcutta High Court.

The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) responded swiftly, issuing a revised schedule for Round 1 of the NEET-UG 2025 counselling—welcome news for thousands of medical aspirants in the state.

Admission Process Resumes After Legal Clarity

The state’s MBBS and dental (BDS) admissions, originally halted on August 19 due to confusion around OBC reservation rules and a Calcutta HC order, have now resumed.

Indrajit Saha, Director of Medical Education, confirmed the resumption, with candidate notifications and college allotment results set to be released through the official WBMCC website.

The pause had created uncertainty for both candidates and institutions, but the Supreme Court decision has cleared the way forward.

Updated Round 1 Counselling Schedule

As per the revised timetable published by WBMCC on August 22:

  • Publication of Provisional Eligible Candidates List: August 22, 2025

  • Round 1 Seat Allotment Result: August 23, 2025 (Today) at wbmcc.nic.in

  • Reporting and Admissions at Allotted Colleges: August 23, 25, and 26, 2025

  • Further Rounds: The schedule for subsequent rounds remains unchanged

Candidates are advised to review their ranks, check the latest seat allotment, and follow the timeline closely to complete admission formalities, including document verification and reporting at allotted institutes.

Admission Process Details

Successful students must report in person to their admitted medical or dental colleges for document verification and fee payment.

Private medical college admissions will be processed at designated government colleges; private dental college admissions at Dr R Ahmed Dental College.

The process, held under strict timelines, follows a Supreme Court-mandated calendar—the National Medical Commission has set September 5 as the final deadline to commence undergraduate classes for the 2025 academic session.

College Availability in Bengal

West Bengal has a robust network of medical and dental colleges:

  • Medical Colleges: 38 total (24 state-run, 12 private, and 2 Centre-governed)

  • Dental Colleges: 7 total (3 state-run, 4 private)

What Aspirants Should Do

All NEET-qualified and WBMCC-registered candidates should:

  • Check their seat allotment status promptly on the WBMCC portal
