Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU), Dumka invites applications in offline mode from eligible candidates for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme in various disciplines/subject for the academic session 2025-2026.
The admission process will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for the Award of Ph.D.) Regulations, 2022, dated 07 November 2022, duly adopted by the University vide Notification No. 30/23 dated 27 February 2023, along with the University-specific rules and regulations.

ELIGIBILITY:
1. The applicant must have a Master's Degree or an equivalent qualification in the concerned subject from a recognized university, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade on a point scale (wherever grading system is followed).
AND
2. The applicant must have qualified JRF/NET/NET (Ph.D.)/GATE/JET examination conducted by NTA/IISc & IITs/JPSC etc.
Note:
A relaxation of 5% marks (minimum 50%) or equivalent grade will be given to candidates belonging to the following categories, as per UGC norms: SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/EWS.
The candidate must have qualified the JRF/NET/NET-Ph.D./GATE/JET exam on or before the date of advertisement.
CATEGORIES OF ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES:
All eligible applicants will be classified into one of the following categories:
Category I: Regular Assistant Professors currently working in the constituent colleges under Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU)
AND/OR
Candidates who have qualified JRF or GATE
Category II: Candidates who have qualified for any of the following - NET, NET (Ph.D.), JET..
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The selection process will be conducted on the basis of 100 marks in total.
For Category-I candidates, the selection will be made only through an interview carrying 100 marks.
For Category-II candidates, the selection will be based on both the NET/NET (Ph.D.) / JET Score and an interview.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
The application process will be conducted only in offline mode.
Candidates are required to follow the steps given below:
1. Download the Application Form from the official University website (available under the link "Application Form").
2. Fill in all required details carefully and attach all necessary self-attested documents.
3. Submit the completed application form along with supporting documents to the University office through either of the following modes:
By Speed Post, or
By hand submission at the designated counter during 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on working days.

Important Notes regarding Application Fees:
The Application Processing Fee, once paid is non-refundable.
Reserved category candidates from outside the State of Jharkhand will be treated as UR category candidates.
Candidates must submit the original Demand Draft or Bank Challan along with the duly filled application form at the time of submission.

GROUNDS FOR REJECTION:
An application is liable to be rejected under any of the following conditions:
1. Submission of an incomplete application form.
2. Non-payment of the prescribed application processing fee.
3. Failure to submit the requisite supporting documents.
4. Receipt of the application after the last date specified in the notification.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
1. If no eligible candidate is available in a reserved category, the vacant seat(s) will be filled in accordance with the provisions of SANKALP of the Government of Jharkhand, No. 1434 dated 15/02/2019, regarding admission and reservation policy.
2. Reservations will be implemented strictly as per the rules of the Government of Jharkhand.
3. Candidates belonging to BC-I and BC-II categories must submit a valid caste certificate for the current year in the prescribed format issued by the Government of Jharkhand. The certificate must clearly state that the candidate does not belong to the creamy layer.
4. Candidates applying under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category must submit a valid certificate for the current year in the prescribed format of the Government of Jharkhand.
5. The University reserves the right to revise the number of seats and disciplines at any stage of the admission process.
6. The detailed admission schedule, publication of the list of candidates eligible for interview, date of interview, etc., will be notified from time to time on the University website.
7. No TA/DA will be provided to candidates appearing for the interview.
8. Grievances related to Ph.D. admissions will be addressed by the Departmental Research Committee (DRC) of the respective department.
9. The University reserves the right to change or modify the admission schedule if necessary.
10. In case of any doubt or clarification, applicants are advised to carefully go through the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for the Award of Ph.D.) Regulations, 2022, dated 07/11/2022, adopted by the University vide Notification No. 30/23 dated 27/02/2023, along with the provisions of SANKALP of the Government of Jharkhand, No. 1434 dated 15/02/2019.
