MARINE ENGINEERING DIRECTOR (ON CONTRACT)

Applications in the prescribed format are invited from qualified candidates for appointment to the post of Associate Professor & Director (on contract basis) at KMSME as detailed below:

Qualifications

For Sl No.1

(i) B.Tech in Marine/ Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture.

(ii) First Class Certificate of Competency (MEO Class-I C.O.C)

(iii) Shall produce the TOTA/VICT course on joining.

Desirable:

(i) M.Tech in Marine Engineering.

(ii) AECS course certificate.

(iii) Shall undergo the VICT course before joining duty.

Experience

12 years of relevant experience out of which at least 2 years shall be in the position of Chief Engineer officer onboard merchant ships. (Experience as Full time Faculty member in a DG Shipping approved MTI will be counted as equivalent to Chief Engineer experience)

For Sl No.2

The Director shall as a minimum hold a COC as Master (FG) or Chief Engineer (MEO Class 1). A naval Officer holding COC with command experience or holder of Certificate of Services (COS) issued under the MS Act, with preferable experience in command of a ship, or as Chief Engineer.

OR

(i) B.Tech in Marine/Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture.

(ii) First Class Certificate of Competency (MEO Class-I C.O.C)

Desirable:

(i) Ph.D in relevant discipline.

(ii) M.Tech in Marine/Mechanical Engineering/Naval Architecture/ Extra First Class Certificate of Competency.

(iii) AECS course certificate.

(iv) Shall undergo the VICT course before joining duty.

Experience


(i) 15 years of relevant experience out of which at least 2 years shall be in the position of Chief Engineer officer onboard merchant ships. (Experience as Full time Faculty member in a DG Shipping approved MTI will be counted as equivalent to Chief Engineer experience)

AND

(ii) 5 years experience as a Faculty in a D.G shipping approved Maritime Training Institute.

OR

5 years experience at Senior Management level in Maritime related shore Industry

Consolidated Remuneration


For Sl No.1-Rs.1,25,000/- per month

For SI No.2 - Rs.1,60,000/- per month

Other conditions


1. The initial period of appointment is for one year which may be extended up to 2 years.

2. The engagement (on contract) will be for the whole year and there shall not be any vacation.

3. Reservation Rules issued by the Government from time-to-time are applicable for the appointments to the above posts.

4. All proceedings pursuant to this notification will be subject to the result of the Writ Petitions or Writ Appeals, if any, connected with the matter pending before the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala.

5. Appointments, conditions of service, emoluments and other service benefits shall be governed by the provisions of KSR, KS & SSR, Act/Statutes/Ordinances and Syndicate Decisions of Cochin University of Science and Technology as amended from time to time.

Age Limit for Director


The maximum age limit for appointment will be 69 years, as stipulated by the DG Shipping.

2. Candidates shall apply online on or before 16.09.2025.

3. The signed hard copy of the application (with copies of documents to prove age, qualification (mark list and degree certificate )/ Specialization, proof that the journals are approved by UGC/peer reviewed, Experience Certificate, Awards, Proof for CGPA to percentage conversion and proof of all other additional qualifications like UGC-NET etc and reservations, if any, should reach the Registrar, CUSAT on or before 23.09.2025.

4. Late and defective applications will be summarily rejected.

Fee Details


Application Fee: Rs. 900/- for General Category and Rs.185/- for SC/ST Candidates.
