This scholarship—administered by the Árni Magnússon Institute and funded by the Ministry of Culture, Innovation, and Higher Education—supports students passionate about learning íslenska (Icelandic) and exploring Iceland’s linguistic and cultural heritage in Reykjavík.

Scholarship Benefits

Eligibility Criteria

  • Basic proficiency in íslenska (Icelandic), proven by completion of Icelandic Online 1 and 2 courses (free online modules)

  • Demonstrated English language proficiency—as English serves as the secondary instructional language

  • Applicants under the age of 35 will be given preference
