University of Allahabad Ph.D Admission 2025
The University of Allahabad invites applications for PhD programs for the academic session 2025–26. Admissions will be conducted strictly under UGC Regulations 2022 and university guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification:
- Master’s degree with 55% marks (50% for EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwD).
- Applicants must check subject-specific eligibility in the PhD admission brochure.
2. Mandatory Requirement:
- All applicants (except exempted categories) must qualify for the UGC/CSIR-NET exam conducted by NTA.
Applicant Categories
The applicants are divided into three groups:
Group A: This group is for candidates who have qualified for both the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and the Assistant Professor eligibility through exams like NET. All applicants in this group will be shortlisted.
Group B: This group is for candidates who have qualified for only the Assistant Professor eligibility or only for PhD admission through NET. A limited number of applicants, twice the number of available seats, will be shortlisted from this group.
Group C: This group is for exempted candidates (like university teachers, armed forces officers, etc.) who do not need to take the NET exam. All eligible applicants in this group will be shortlisted.
- NET Validity: Scores from June 2024, December 2024, and June 2025 are valid for 2025-26 admissions.
Exemptions from NET
- Permanent teachers of Allahabad University/constituent colleges.
- Armed Forces officers (for Defence & Strategic Studies only).
- International candidates (contact International Candidate Advisor).
- Part-Time PhD: Minimum 5 years of professional experience.
Reservation Policy
- SC: 15%, ST: 7.5%, OBC-NCL: 27%, EWS: 10%, PwD: 5% (horizontal).
Admission Process
1. Registration:
- Apply online via the PhD admission portal.
- Fee: ₹600 (UR/OBC/EWS/Exempted) | ₹300 (SC/ST/PwD).
2. Shortlisting: Based on NTA/CSIR-UGC scores.
3. Merit Calculation:
- Academic Performance Score: 20 marks
- NTA Test Score (converted): 70 marks
- Research Aptitude Test (Interview/Presentation): 30 marks
- Total: 120 marks
4. Exempted Candidates: Evaluated only through Research Aptitude Test.
