ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POST OF ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (COLLEGE POST) IN THE DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE (PG)

Eligibility Criteria:


1) Master's degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in Political Science from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

A relaxation of 5% shall be provided for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently-abled ((a) Blindness and low vision; (b) Deaf and Hard Hearing; (c) locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; (d) Autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness; (c) Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under (a) to (d) including deaf-blindness) and Other Backward Classes (OBC)(Non-creamy Layer).

2) Candidates must have cleared the UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) or similar test recognised by the UGC like SLET/SET or must have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be,

Provided further, candidates registered for the PhD programme prior to July 11. 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bye- 6 laws/Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and such PhD candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions:

a. A Ph.D degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only,

b. Evaluation of the PhD thesis by at least two external examiners:

c. An open Ph.D viva voce of the candidate had been conducted.

d. Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D work out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal,

Candidate has made at least two presentations in conference/seminars, based on his/her Ph.D work,

(a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the Registrar/ Dean (Academic Affairs).

3) Upper age limit as per Government of Meghalaya notification.

Desirable Criteria:


1. Good teaching experience (experience certificates to be attached).

2. Specialization and/or research experience in the Indian Political System and Politics of North-East India.

3. Publications in reputed journals and publications.

4. Research projects, surveys, collaborations, etc.

5. Participation in seminars, conferences, workshops etc.

Guidelines for Candidates:


1 Applications are to be addressed to The Principal, St. Anthony's College, Shillong.

2 Applications should be submitted in envelopes clearly marked on the outside of the envelopes as "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (COLLEGE POST) IN THE DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE (PG)".

4. 3. Applications are to be submitted in plain paper along with CV, one passport size photo, self-attested copies of mark sheets, certificates, publications, and other documents.

In case of proof of publications, research projects, etc., candidates are required to attach the photocopied documents like cover of the journal, book or report, the content and the first page of the published paper, book, or project report. Mere claim without evidence will not be entertained.

5. Employed applicants must submit a "No Objection Certificate" from the present employer.

6. Eligibility does not guarantee that candidates will be called for interview. If necessary, only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.

7. No correspondence from the candidates will be entertained in connection with the process of selection. Canvassing in any form will entail disqualification of Candidature.

8. Incomplete applications, i.e., applications without self-attested copies of certificates, mark sheets, experience certificates, publications etc., and applications received after the due date will be summarily rejected.

9. The decision of the college in all matters shall be final.
