About the Assam Pollution Control Board

The Assam Pollution Control Board (APCB) is a premier statutory organization under the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of Assam. Mandated to preserve the environment and public health, the APCB works towards preventing, controlling, and abating pollution in the state. With a head office in Guwahati and regional offices across Assam, the Board is at the forefront of environmental regulation, research, and sustainable development initiatives.

The Roles

APCB is seeking dynamic and motivated individuals to join its team on a project basis. We are conducting a walk-in interview to hire for two key positions:

1. Project Research Fellow

  • Number of Vacancies: 03
  • Role Summary: The fellow will be involved in critical research and technical work related to environmental projects. This includes field studies, data collection, sample analysis (leveraging the Board's NABL-accredited laboratory), report writing, and supporting the Board's core technical functions.

2. Data Analyst

  • Number of Vacancies: 03
  • Role Summary: The analyst will be responsible for managing, processing, and interpreting environmental data. Key tasks will include spatial analysis, creating data visualizations, preparing reports, and supporting decision-making processes through robust data analytics.

Minimum Qualifications

For Project Research Fellow:
  • B.Tech in Civil, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or Biotechnology OR
  • M.Sc. in Chemistry or Environmental Science.
  • A minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying degree.

For Data Analyst:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.
  • A Diploma or Certificate in GIS, Data Analytics, or Business Analytics from a reputed institution.

Preferred Qualifications


Candidates with the following will be preferred:
  • At least 1 year of research or technical experience in a relevant field.
  • Practical experience in data handling, report writing, and field work.
  • Strong familiarity with computer applications, including:
    •     MS Office Suite (Essential)
    •     GIS Software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS)
    •     Data Analysis Tools (e.g., R, Python, SQL, or advanced Excel)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Project Research Fellow:
  • Conduct field visits for environmental sampling and monitoring.
  • Assist in laboratory analysis and data validation.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members on various research initiatives.

Data Analyst:
  • Collect, clean, and manage large environmental datasets.
  • Perform spatial analysis using GIS tools.
  • Develop dashboards and visualizations to present data insights.
  • Analyze trends and prepare analytical reports for project stakeholders.

Compensation & Terms

  • A consolidated monthly remuneration will be paid as per the sanction of the respective projects.
  • The position is purely temporary and on a fixed-pay basis, co-terminus with the project.
  • The number of posts is subject to change based on project requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit: Candidates must not be more than 35 years old as of January 1, 2025. Age relaxation may be considered in special cases.
