The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) has announced the 27th State Eligibility Test (SET) for determining eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor in West Bengal.

The online application process commenced on August 1, 2025, and will close on August 31, 2025
The examination is scheduled for December 14, 2025.  

Key Highlights:

  

Eligibility Criteria: 


Candidates with at least 55% marks in Master’s degree (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/Transgender) from UGC-recognized institutions are eligible. Final-year students may apply but must qualify within two years of the SET result.  

Examination Fee:

  
  - General/EWS: ₹1,400  
  - OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS: ₹700  
  - SC/ST/PWD/Transgender: ₹350  

Exam Pattern:  

  - Paper-I: 50 questions (100 marks) on teaching/research aptitude.  
  - Paper-II: 100 questions (200 marks) on the candidate’s post-graduation subject.  
- Reservation: As per West Bengal government norms, with concessions for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/Transgender candidates.  

Important Dates:  

- Last Date to Apply: August 31, 2025  
- Correction Window: September 9–11, 2025  
- Admit Card Release: Last week of November 2025  

How to Apply:

Candidates must apply online at [www.wbcsconline.in](http://www.wbcsconline.in) and upload scanned photographs/signatures. No offline applications will be accepted.  

Exam Centers:  

The test will be conducted across 33 districts of West Bengal, including Kolkata, Darjeeling, and North/South 24 Parganas.  

Special Provisions: 

- PWD Candidates: 40% disability or more can avail scribes and extra time.  
- Transgender Candidates: Eligibility relaxations similar to SC/ST/PWD categories.  

Result Declaration:  

The top 6% of candidates (subject to reservation norms) clearing both papers with minimum aggregate marks (40% for General/EWS, 35% for reserved categories) will qualify.
